In Flux!

Since we are still in  state of getting settled into this home I wanted to share some photo's of what the house currently looks like. Mind you there are rooms that haven't really been touched or they are in a state of "flux" ;) I like that word..lol..Fits me well these days!

But for today I am going to show you the front of our home!

I decided this year that I wanted to keep things simple and fresh. I love driving up to my home and seeing some of my vintage pieces sitting on the porch and my pillow that I bought from a fellow blogger Our Home Away From Home and  Etsy Shop owner. She does such an amazing job making pillow slip covers. Her home is so beautiful and her talent for sewing is outstanding!

I got a little creative with my monogram wall art. I couldn't see going out an spending a lot of money decorating the outside of the house and in all honesty we don't want to ad to what we have to move back to the lower 48 when my husbands assignment is completed here in Alaska. So I bought a monogram from Michael's that was 60% off (left it as is) went into the garage to see what scrap wood we had and built my own wall art. Total cost under 10.00 for everything! Everything else on the porch I already had with the exception of the plants in the containers...Low cost decorating is right up my alley!!

I will share the inside soon :)

Blessings,
~Donna

One year anniversary in Alaska!

Wow it's been a year since we moved here to Alaska! Time truly flies, but not always because of fun :( our move here has had it's high's and lows, but over all it's been fine. I started working again and had a little accident and had to take a month off due to healing but I have since returned and back to loving it. Our home is still in flux and I'm okay with that! Three amazing events have taken place in the year we have been here,

1. #1 Son came for his first visit

                                                        Alaskan pipeline near Fox Alaska

2. #2 son graduated from High school with 4.0

3. # 1 graduated from K-State!

We are so proud of our two oldest sons and their accomplishments. I can't wait to see what the future holds for the two of them.

#3 and # 4 are doing well. They are still adjusting to their "new normal" and that is to be expected. Life is what we make of it and I want to make it happy for as much of the time as I can.. :)

Many blessing,
~Donna

Spring time in Alaska!

Hello and Happy Spring!

It's been awhile since my last post and for good reason. I have been working or at least up until a couple weeks ago. I had an accident and received a few injuries that required me to resign my position which I regrettably did, but my injuries are going to take sometime to heal and the team I worked with truly need someone that can give their all and work at a fast pace which I cannot unfortunately.

Spring time in Alaska is a mess and not so beautiful right now. There is water, mud and icky snow everywhere. I miss the normal lower 48 Spring, but I am making the best of what I am blessed with. #1 son was able to come for a visit for Spring break and it was amazing getting to see him. I miss that kid. He only has another month before graduating college. We are so proud of him..Another exciting thing happened #2 son graduated from High school with a HS diploma. A little back story on #2, he was supposed to graduate in 2014 but didn't have enough credits and the district we lived in wouldn't allow him to return for recovery because they only allow 4 years at the high school. #2 got really discouraged and rebelled and decided to enroll in the school of smoking and drinking and hanging out with the wrong crowd. He went through a really tough time, but thankfully we moved and got him back on track once we got here. With hard work and dedication he did it he graduated with all A's and we are so proud of him..

So even thou there were some rough bumpy patches in this well traveled road we call life, there has been so many smooth roads to happiness and gratitude.

Many blessings to all,
~Donna

A New year, and new beginnings!

Happy New year!

Goodness it's 2016 and it's off to a great start. So many things has happened and changed since my last post. Let me start with Christmas!

Christmas was and is the most wonderful time of year hands down. Not only is it a time to celebrate our lord and savoir, but it is also a time to reunite with family. This Christmas was wonderful but it was also sad because our older son couldn't come. He is taking two graduate level classes and working as much as he can. I miss him so much. Never did I think it would be this hard. I feel for all moms who are in the empty nest phase of life where their children are starting to leave. Of course I still have 3 sons at home, 19-16-13 year old's and they keep life interesting and fun but 1 is missing from the daily going-on's so there for life isn't the same.

So onto some exciting news. I got a JOB!! I love it, it's with a well known popular Craft Store Chain. I love, love my job. It's part-time work with an early report time. Merchandising is one of my favorite things to do and to be able to do it and get paid..Win, Win!

I really like the direction 2016 is going!

Many blessings,
~Donna.
